Genevieve

has been getting better. She still can't talk (all the screaming wore her throat out) and has episodes of convulsions and crying, but she seems to be trying to figure a way out of the Labyrinth fairly calmly for someone in her situation and she seems to be able to distinguish walking into me or Kristen from walking into a wall or piece of furniture and distinguish colliding with me from colliding with Kristen. She's been feeling her way around the room trying to figure out where the furniture is and where the walls are, presumably so she can stop bumping into or tripping over them. She also seems to be aware enough of her surroundings to be able to eat if someone gives her food and use the bathroom.

The labyrinth, although the rest of us cannot see or feel it, appears to be physical. She trips and walks around things that aren't there and at one point punched something and her knuckles began to bleed. That was also the first time she managed to successfully communicate with us- she walked around until she found Kristen, grabbed her, and held up her hand so she could see the injury.

JediZero has suggested putting on some music for her, as she appears to be able to hear sound to a limited degree. So, I'll write down what she does as it happens.

Okay, so, um, I've plugged her iPod into the speakers, and I've put her Happy Playlist on at around normal talking volume and...she's coming over here and she's trying to find the source of the noise...she just tripped over something in the Labyrinth, judging by the fact there's nothing there and she just stumbled. Okay, she's found the speakers and she's feeling around for something. Maybe she wants the change the track? No, she's turning the volume up. Really loud, actually, not uncomfortably loud but certainly audible...

She seems happy now. She's just sitting there, looking around at things we can't see. She's petting Cassy, who's sitting in her lap. Curiously enough, she seems to be able to see Cassy- if she comes into the room she'll follow her with her eyes and occasionally go to pet her or pick her up. Weird.

I think I'll go sit with her for a while, in case she tries to communicate again. I've given her a throat lozenge, which should help with her recovering her voice. She'll pull through. Somehow.

  1. Thank god, I was actually useful.

If she can see Cassy, perhaps she could see something on her? Make a post it note and stick it on Cassy to let her read? The cat might not like it, but its the only idea I've got that makes sense.

Glad that she's doing better with the music.

  2. ...Jedi, I think you're onto something. I just need to find a post-it note.

  3. Alternatively, just get some string or something and tie a letter around Cassy's tail.

  4. There were always myths that cats could see spirits and the like.

Maybe they exist on separate layers of reality? Not that I know anything about Labyrinths at all...

God, I'm so sorry Chester. I wish I could help...

  5. Okay, so Vivi can see Cassy and she can feel the paper, but she cannot see it, just Cassy.

On the plus side: She's beginning to get her voice back. She can't say anything coherent and she can't say it above a tiny whisper, but it's progress.

  6. Hrm.
I guess all you can do at this point is keep her safe and let her hear her music until she gets her voice back.

  7. She appears to be attempting to speak at the moment but she's so raspy and so quiet I can't understand her, so I've given her another cough lozenge and

she's saying "the walls are shrinking".

    FUCK IT, SLENDY. NOT AGAIN!

  8. The only thing I can think of is another dose of the cure. It seems to be the only thing that might be able to make this stop.

Or, try and slap Razor around, maybe that'll wake him up and he can tell you what the eff.

  9. Alternatively, an old trick to get out of mazes is to put your left hand on the wall, keep it there, and keep walking. If there's a turn, go left, and keep your hand on the wall.

It'll take a while, but it'll eventually lead out.

Might try and tell her that.

  10. Razor's...throwing up too often, when he's actually awake, to interrogate him. However when he stops it with the charcoal chunder I'm going to question her.

I'm waiting for Jeff to get back to me on that one...

"the walls are shrinking". Her claustrophobia. Goddamnit...

  11. She's going to have to face her fears if she wants to get out of this. I'm sorry, but short of her finding her way out of the Labyrinth, that's what she's going to have to do.

Hold her. Tell her you love her. Tell her that no matter what, you will not let her go. Tell her that she needs to be strong, and she needs to fight this.

  12. I've heard of people using a ball of string or yarn to guide them out of mazes. The most famous example is from The ancient Greek myth of Daedalus who is said to have crafted an never ending always changing labyrinth.

  13. ...We're only calling it a Labyrinth because that seems to be the term for it. If what little Vivi has said is true, her labyrinth is in fact the inside of a ruined house which behaves in a similar manner to the looped apartment, and that she is stuck in one particular room which is now shrinking.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Can she describe what the house looks like? Does it seem familiar in any way? Can she see out a window to say where the house is?

If you could find where the house is, if it does in fact exist, perhaps you can open the door there and it'll let her free.

  15. Have you tried taking her outside of the house?

  16. I wish there was something I could do...I'm sorry.

Viv is strong. I'm sure she'll pull through. I just..damn. Today sucked. For everyone.

Good luck with everything. I wish I could do more.

  17. Just did. She started having convulsions again but...she seems to be feeling better. So I'm considering taking her outside again later when there are less people around.

She says hi, everyone. She seems to have regained full or nearly full use of her hearing, although her voice is still raspy and very quiet and she can only see the Labyrinth. She's pretty upset over Reach and Darby though...

    ReplyDelete
  18. What happened to Reach and Darby?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Um, Reach was believed to be dead until today, but it turns out he's not and now we have to choose between saving him or saving his daughter Catherine. Redlight, you are a bastard. Darby is, well...dead. Vexil has confirmed it. She saw the body.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I...I don't even know those people.

Good god, what the hell are we going to do?
And...and Darby....Darby posted on the blog just before this one I think.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes. That was before Vexil posted saying he'd been found dead in his room.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm taking her outside again like, right now, because there aren't many people around and her having convulsions is less likely to attract attention.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Please tell us when there's any change. Geeze I hope she gets better.

    ReplyDelete
  24. She started having convulsions and threw up more slendergoop, but not very much and she's sleeping right now. Hopefully she'll be a little bit better in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Heres hoping.
I've gotta get some sleep myself.

Ugh, my migraine's acting up again.

  26. Sleep would be a good idea. I'm not sure what timezone you're in, but it's 9.00pm and I haven't slept in nearly 48 hours! Yay! So I'm just on here until either Vivi's iPod Touch runs out of battery or I pass out. :3

  27. I'm so sorry that I'm late to this, but is she doing okay? Has she improved at all?

    ReplyDelete
  28. She's not quite in the clear yet, but she's getting there. She's got full use of all her senses except her sight- all she can see is the Labyrinth but otherwise she's recovering.

    ReplyDelete
  29. She's doing much, much better. She still isn't quite right and I think, because of what the labyrinth WAS, she won't be entirely mentally recovered for...a while. But she's alright.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not quite but she's getting close. All of her senses bar her sight are out of the labyrinth and she's actually developed a sense of humour about it, which is a good sign. She also just RickRoll'd Kristen.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Bahahaha.

Wonder if a Revenant has a sense of humor.

  32. Oh, something I forgot, I'm trying to get a hold of Zeke Strahm, he might be able to help.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Kristen does, definitely.

Progress check is in the next post.

  34. I don't think you need to get a hold of Mr Strahm, it looks like we're fine here.
